Today April 20th 2020, the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) announced that it has further streamlined the application for unemployment benefits. According to the NYSDOL, new applicants seeking Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) can now complete one form to apply without having to first apply for traditional unemployment benefits. Applicants who have previously applied for traditional unemployment benefits or PUA should NOT complete the new application, but should expect to receive a call back from the NYSDOL to complete their application.
